About Me
I am 24 years old. I was raped on my 21st birthday. I have started advocating for Rape Victims within the last few months. It is something I am truly passionate about and has given me inspiration to live my life by. I am a member of the RAINNs Speaker Bureau. I have recently appeared on the CBS Evening News and CBS Early Show. I am talking with other media outlets about running similar stories. My big project currently is getting co-sponsors for the Justice for Survivors of Sexual assault Act of 2009 (S.2736) Bill.

Hi,
I’m writing a research paper on the rape kit backlog, and wanted to ask you a question, but couldn’t find any contact info.
Do you think anything is missing from S.2736? Is there anything that wasn’t included in the proposed legislation that you hoped for?

Awe…this is a GREAT subject for a research paper and a very important issue.
I think the Bill in general is Excellent and much needed, however; there are still some issues that need to be addressed.
There will be a Congressional Hearing on May 20th which is a huge milestone for the Bill.
I hope you can find plenty of helpful information for your paper on my blog. Let me know if you have any specific quesitons.
Good Luck!
Valerie

Hi Valerie,
Are you open to talking about a documentary project I’m working on about the backlog issue? I’m working on the project with a charity in California that provides assistance to survivors of assault and a few amazing folks from Stanford’s documentary school. Are you able to chat for 15-30 minutes? If so, and if you don’t want to post your contact information here, you can reach me via email (kimlembo@gmail.com).
Thank you! You are amazing…and I’d love to help you affect change in any way I can.
Kim
